2024-2025 Classes Offered:
Walnut Fork Baptist Church is excited about this opportunity to open our new preschool program, Children’s Corner University. CCU offers half-day preschool and Kindergarten programs. Class descriptions are as follows:
All Programs Feature:
•Low student-to-teacher ratio.
-Younger classes: 1 teacher to 8-10 students with a part-time
assistant.
-Kindergarten Class: 1 teacher to 10 students and a part-time
assistant.
•Our preschool uses ABEKA for educational instruction and WEE Learn for biblical studies.
•Supportive, nurturing, and loving care in a Christ-centered environment. Fun, unit-themed activities with a focus on age-appropriate concepts.
2-Year-Old Class:
Children within this age range are developing an increased awareness of their friends and
surroundings. They are being exposed to activities that encourage them to take turns, share,
and work together to accomplish tasks. Establishing daily routines becomes an integral aspect
of a student's day, fostering feelings of constancy and confidence
• Center time
• Art
• Circle time
• Music and movement
Fundamental independent skills will start to emerge, accompanied by a comprehension of one
to two-step instructions. The theme or unit of study evolves over the course of the year and
encompasses:
• Letters
• Numbers
• Concentrate on new concepts
• Bible thoughts are part of our daily routine.
Our Goal at CCU is to lay the beginning foundation of education and Jesus Christ for our two
year-old students.

3-year-old Class:
At this age, a child will start to exhibit a prolonged attention span and possess the capacity to
engage in more detailed activities, allowing them to sit for extended periods.
Activities:
• Proper pencil grasp
• Name tracing
• Improving fine motor skills
We encourage your child to take the lead during playtime. Doing so forces their brain to take
time to think of what to do, which helps develop their attention span. We engage in warm
and responsive play, peppered with much encouragement.
It is common at this age to begin demonstrating a stronger desire for independence and
doing things on their own. The day is full of a variety of activities because children learn
in many different ways.
• Hands–on art projects
• PE—team building activities
• Music and movement
• Bible based imaginative play
Requirements:
1. Children must be 3 by September 1st of the year entering the program.
2. Children must be completely potty trained and able to use the restroom independently. Please see our 3-year-old bathroom policy.

Pre-K4 Class:
A primary goal for this age group is to refine both social and academic skills, ensuring a
seamless transition as they progress to kindergarten.
The areas of focus include:
• Self–control
• Listening
• Being respectful
• Following multi-step directions
• Independence
• Self–confidence
• Fine motor skills
• Cooperation
While mastery of these skills is not expected at this age, there is an anticipation of a certain
level of proficiency in each area from the student. Our Pre-K4 classes create an enjoyable
learning environment, simultaneously preparing students for full-day public or private
kindergarten.
The theme/unit of study changes throughout the year:
Including:
• Alphabet letters (long & short vowels)
• Recognizing words beginning with letters
• Letters become words
• Numbers
• Chapel time
The Bible is an important part of their daily routine as they begin to explore more about
Jesus and the Bible. The Pre-K4 classes attend worship in the church sanctuary 2-4 times a
month.
Requirements:
1. Children must be four years old by September 1st of the year entering into the program.
2. All children must be fully potty trained and able to go to the bathroom without assistance.

Kindergarten:
In this course, students receive learning through all areas of development within an appropriate early childhood environment:
• Intellectual
• Language
• Physical
• Social-emotional
This integrated curriculum focuses on all areas such as:
• Literacy
• Numeracy
• Science
• Social studies
• Arts
In Kindergarten, we incorporate structure and routines to help students develop school behaviors that support a positive learning environment. School behaviors include working with others in small groups, listening as another is speaking, making choices, taking turns, problem-solving, and building peer relationships. CCU works closely with the local public school to provide the resources and knowledge to help each student thrive after preschool.
Requirements:
Children must be 5 by September 1st of the year entering into the program.
